are jw the most dispised religion by the public?

jehovah this and that .
at no stage did i ever hear anyone mention any other god or religion in conversation or playground banter.

If you think about it JW's are really ignored.
The one thing that kinda made them hated was the whole waking people up at 10am on a sat or sun morning ;-/
Now they are ignored because the 'field ministry' has lost its luster and in this day and age people are working weekends and not home. Contrast this to 20 30 yrs ago when weekends were sacred and cherished.

Kingdom Hall remodel - scam
by Dagney ini was wondering from any here in the know, does it seem like there is a lot of "remodels" going on?.
in the last week i had the occasion to talk with two jw's in different halls, about 10 miles apart.
they both are undergoing major remodels.

iclone: Darth frosty...Our last Circuit Assembly there were about 800 people and the total costs incurred were close to 10k for a paid off assembly hall! Many people say it goes into reserve for upgrades, renovations etc.; B.S. they campaigned for $ when they built a new steel perimeter fence and other improvements. It is such a scam-how shameless!
Wow trying to say an assembly of $800 still cost $10G's
This is a reeaaalllll conservative estimate but say there are an average of 100 assemblies per week in the US, at a cost of 10g per assembly that a $1million dollar haul per week.
Like I said I kept it conservative.

The KH remodels and ass-emblies/conventions are the best money grabs they have.
KH remodels they have to borrow the money from the society for a bldg that the society already owns at 3% interest. I found out they dis-solved a congo I used to attend because they could not afford the remodel.
The ass-emblies are a great grab with the way they take a count of people attending and than use the number X's a dollar amount per person and wah-lah there is the assembly hall cost. I used to always wonder why a weekend or special day assembly would cost $8-10k for a paid off assembly hall?!? Now I know.

Claim by Jehovah's Witness dismissed
A JEHOVAH'S Witness who claimed she was shunned by other members of her congregation is not entitled to bring an action for slander, the High Court ruled yesterday.
Ruth Moram, Killarney, Co Kerry, claimed she was "disfellowshipped" from the Killarney congregation after she was accused of slandering her husband by implying he was an adulterer. Her husband denied the accusation, the court heard. Ms Moram had brought proceedings against three members of the congregation, claiming she in turn was slandered in a letter written by one of them to her in December 2009.
Mr Justice John Hedigan yesterday ruled Ms Moram had shown no cause of action in her claims against Killarney Jehovah's Witness elders Peter Van Benthem, and Andrew Beeston, or against Jehovah's Witness Martyn Bell, Firies, who wrote the letter in 2009. The judge also awarded costs against Ms Moram who said she would go to jail rather than pay them and would also appeal the decision to the European Court of Human Rights.
Mr Justice Hedigan said the case dated back to June 2004 when Ms Moram claimed Mr Van Benthem and Mr Beeston called to her home and accused her of slander without, she claimed, telling her at that stage what the alleged slander was. Later that month, at a meeting of the Killarney congregation, Mr Bell gave evidence of the alleged slander of her husband and as a result Ms Moram was "disfellowshipped", she said. This meant fellow members were not to associate with her until she repented.
She appealed that decision internally in August 2004 during which evidence was given that Ms Moram had told a fellow Jehovah's Witness that a woman, referred to only by initials, had spent weekends away with Ms Moram's husband, Mr Justice Hedigan said.
Ms Moram claimed, as a result of that, she was accused of slander in that she implied her husband was an adulterer, the judge said. In a separate meeting, her husband denied the allegation, the judge added.
Following these hearings, Ms Moram was disfellowshipped. She then wrote a letter of complaint to the branch office in Wicklow and included photographs of her husband on a weekend break in Galway with the other woman, the judge said.
The branch sent a letter to the appeal committee which changed its decision and told Ms Moram the committee "forgave" her. She refused to accept this on grounds she had not slandered anyone but the accusation had not been withdrawn, the judge said. In February 2010, she formally left the Jehovah's Witnesses after elders refused to allow her to speak at a meeting, he said. Since then, she claimed, all her Jehovah's Witness friends had been forbidden to speak to her and she had been brought into public hatred, contempt and ridicule.
Mr Justice Hedigan said yesterday the proceedings would have had to be issued within three years of the 2004 events but were only issued in 2011. As there was no publication of the letter and no special damage was claimed, Ms Moram had shown no cause of action against the three and her claim must be dismissed.

Did the Global Flood of the Bible really happen? Please give evidence
by The Quiet One inwith todays public talk being about the global flood as a real event, please give any information/views that you have on this topic.
evidence either for or against is more than welcome.
thank you..

Quite rational first post QuiteRational!
Wecome.
My favorite argument For the flood when I was a dub was the old 'The flood created the grand canyon.'
now my favorite argument against the flood is the fact that the grand canyon was carved by the waters flowing thru the canyon. If you look at the canyon walls they tell the story by the striation there cause by the water flow. Each inch of striations represent a thousand years of erosion.

Today's Watchtower
by tornapart inat the meeting today the wt had a paragraph about certain ones breaking away from the church because the church's doctrines didn't match the bible, some were excommunicated, some imprisoned, some executed.. of course they were held up to be lovers of god, true christians... if i was to do the same thing i would be held up as an apostate.... and excommunicated...... i wish sometimes i had the same courage as those ones.....

4 hours agoBTW, if anyone is interested, Richard Rubenstein's book (which was cited in paragraph 12 of today's Watchtower lesson) is titled "When Jesus Became God." It's a fascinating history of the rancorous debates and infighting amongst the nominal Christians during the 2-4th centuries, culminating in the Council of Nicea in 325 C.E.
Reading books on this and other similar subjects related to the history of Christendom reveals just how political and violent the history of false religion truly is. It's just amazing that anyone could think that such a history is actually representative of true Christianity.

BS!!! YES, this information was so wonderful to explain in simple terms just how Satan maneuvered and manipulated to take control through false teachings. There were dear brave hearted ones who must have had so much persecution, just as it has been on all who stand up for TRUTH. I LOVED our lesson and every time we get one like this one, it just lifts me off my seat and my heart soars because it shows restraint on the part of Jehovah to really set matters straight. He is patient so that more can see just what Christendom is doing so they can run out of there. It won't be long, as he has Satan, the demons, and wicked individuals who lie, deceive, and spread false teaching, a day of reckoning coming. Lots of good history and Jehovah has preserved this for the benefit of all honest-hearted truth seeking ones! It is such a blessing and an honor to have Jehovah's Name on US.
